AFS Twin Cities Chapter will host David Kesse, Technical Customer Service Manager of Elkem Silicon Products on November 13th, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Joseph’s Grill in St. Paul, MN for a presentation titled “Optimization of the MgFeSi Treatment Process”. About the Presentation: David will be talking about the optimization of the MgFeSi treatment process and cost reduction alternatives for ductile iron treatment. Meet the Speaker: David recently joined the Elkem technical team after 19 years in the cast iron industry. David is a graduate of Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Material Science and Engineering. Later, he obtained his MBA from Indiana University. He spent 15 years at Metal Technologies as metallurgist at their Auburn Casting Center. There, he became fascinated by the foundry industry and successfully transitioned the plant from only gray iron production to a gray/ductile blend. He then moved to Caterpillar’s Mapleton Foundry where he added heavy section casting and compacted graphite to his metallurgical repertoire. At his new role at Elkem, he is most excited about giving back to the industry and getting back to basics and training the next generation of foundry workers.
