In Case You Missed It… On September 16, AFS TC Chapter sponsored a presentation by Brian Bell of Dorsey & Whitney discussing recent enforcement actions by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) and regulatory tools available to MPCA for enforcing environmental regulations and permit conditions. Brian highlighted recent changes to Minnesota laws granting MPCA additional power to shutdown facilities it believes are violating environmental laws. Brian assists clients in obtaining environmental and operating permits for controversial industrial, energy, and natural resources projects. As part of this work, Brian advocates for companies before local, state, and federal regulatory bodies and on judicial review. Brian also represents clients in defending against agency enforcement actions. AFS Twin Cities Chapter will host Brian Bell, Partner at Dorsey & Whitney LLP, on Monday, September 16th beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Joseph’s Grill in St. Paul, MN for a presentation titled “In the Crosshairs: Political and Legal Landscape for MPCA Enforcement Against Foundries”. About the Presentation: Brian’s presentation will focus on the environmental enforcement tools available to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) in enforcing environmental laws. Brian will speak to this topic through the lens of recent enforcement actions brough by the MPCA against Minnesota foundries. Brian will also highlight recent changes made to Minnesota laws granting the MPCA additional power to shutdown facilities it believes are violating environmental laws.
