The AFS Twin Cities Chapter, in support of the AFS Central Ohio Chapter, presents a virtual “Foundry Green Sand Technology” seminar on December 16th from 9:30am – 12:30 p.m. Presenters for the seminar are Mark Ziegler, Managing Director, CISA, Donald McLain, National Sales Manager, American Colloid, Steve Neltner, Technical Service Engineer/R&D, Refcotec, Inc. Their combined experience in “green sand” has served the foundry industry for decades.

This seminar is meant for all foundries, ferrous or nonferrous that are concerned about “green sand” systems, whether quality, troubleshooting, or safety. The presentations will cover practical information that may be applied to your facility. This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about the origins of sand and its impact to our casting industry.

Topics will include:

  • Understanding foundry sand properties and how this can impact the casting quality.
  • Discussion of the importance of the subtle differences of the clay used in green sand
  • Troubleshooting casting surface defects and potential additives to reduce these defects
  • Open Q & A regarding Green Sand Technology

The cost of this 3 hour seminar is $39 per person, to be paid in advance of December 16th. Payment must be made by check, payable to “AFS Central Ohio Chapter”, or via credit card payment (note a 3.5% service charge will be added).
