DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nThe AFS Twin Cities Chapter welcomes John Haas\, Plant 
 Manager at Grede St. Cloud\, who will host the February 9th\, 5:00 p.m. vi
 rtual meeting (part will be pre-recorded). The focus of his presentation\,
  the “State of the Industry” will be of interest to all members of AFS
 . John will talk about the current state of the metal casting industry in 
 a global pandemic and its effect on infrastructure\, defense\, jobs\, and 
 production of durable goods\, and how Grede returned to core competencies 
 for growth amid current challenges.\n\nAbout the Speaker... John’s exper
 tise and extensive foundry knowledge is the product of his more than 45 ye
 ars of working within the metal casting industry. He started in the field 
 while in college. He obtained a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the U
 niversity of Cincinnati. He also received a Master of Business Administrat
 ion degree from Xavier University. John steadily progressed through a numb
 er of positions and gained extensive experience during these growth opport
 unities. Over the course of his career\, John has risen through the follow
 ing positions at a variety of companies - Plant Metallurgist\, Melt Superi
 ntendent\, Quality Manager\, Technical Director\, Plant Manager\, VP of Op
 erations\, Group VP\, and President. He also spent four years as an intern
 al consultant and management resource (both domestically and international
 ly) at a large steel producer.\n\nAt Grede\, John built up an exceptional 
 team. John and this group of talented people transformed the Saint Cloud f
 oundry into the premier foundry within the organization. The plant is a le
 ader in safety\, quality\, productivity\, and profitability metrics. Durin
 g John’s time at Dalton Corporation\, the company was able to improve pr
 oduct pricing and margins\, increased sales growth\, acquired Motor Castin
 gs\, and stabilized the company after being purchased from Neenah. He spen
 t over two years as the President of Cadillac Casting in Cadillac\, Michig
 an. He has recently returned to Grede St. Cloud as the Plant Manager.\n\nR
