DESCRIPTION:\n\n\n\nAFS Twin Cities Chapter and ASM Minnesota are winding 
 the program year with a joint social at St. Paul Brewing (formerly Flat Ea
 rth Brewing)\, on Wednesday\, May 15th\, 4:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.\n\nA Hist
 ory... Theodore Hamm Brewing Company was established in 1865 when Theodore
  Hamm\, a German immigrant\, inherited the Excelsior Brewery from his frie
 nd and business associate\, A. F. Keller. Keller had constructed his brewe
 ry over artesian wells in a section of the Phalen Creek valley in St. Paul
 \, Minnesota known as “Swede Hollow.” During Prohibition the plant pro
 duced soft drinks\, but returned to the beer business in 1933. During its 
 prime years\, the 1950s and ’60s\, it was a major employer on St. Paul
 ’s East Side\, and it became the Stroh’s Brewery in the mid-1980s befo
 re closing in 1997.\n\nIn another part of St. Paul\, Flat Earth Brewing st
 arted in 2007 on Benson Avenue\, south of Highland Park\, and quickly beca
 me known for its hand-crafted assortment\, including its Angry Planet Pale
  Ale and the popular Cygnus X-1 Porter\, which is named after a black hole
 . In 2013\, when the brewery outgrew its Highland Park location\, it moved
  into the Hamm Buildings 7 and 8\, which were the former keg house and hor
 se stable. It has an expansive indoor space and outdoor patio area and cre
 ating a brew house atmosphere\, recently changing its name to encompass th
 e vast brewing history in St. Paul: St. Paul Brewing.\nSchedule...\n4:30pm
