The AFS Twin Cities Chapter continues the 2017-2018 program year on Tuesday, November 14th with Brian Lewis, Foundry Educational Foundation. He will be speaking on "Scholarships - Their Importance in Attracting Talent" at the Green Mill Best Western Plus in Shoreview, Minnesota.
A little about our speaker:
Brian Lewis, originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was selected as the Foundry Educational Foundation (FEF) Executive Director in November, 2014. Brian is a degreed engineer with a unique background including experience in both the manufacturing and non-profit realms. Brian held positions in manufacturing facilities throughout the United States in operations management. His non-profit experience includes a leadership role at a sports-related membership and events organization. Brian took over FEF for long-time director Bill Sorensen in 2015.
A little about FEF:
FEF is the organization that provides resources to member institutions to help develop a steady supply of qualified and trained technical talent to the metal casting industry. As a non-profit organi-zation FEF provides:
• Scholarships for engaged students to support their education and retain their interest in the industry.
• Funding for universities and collaboration with key professors to maintain and develop programs that train new talent, and attract college students to the program.
• Internship services to match talented and high achieving students with in-dustry.
Each year, two FEF scholarship recipients and two UW-Stout scholarship recipients, as well as their Key Professors, are invite to attend the meeting. This year, they are Tyler Richardson, Simon Eddy, Nick Richards and Andrew Shaitel.
